It is with much regret that I have been informed of the death of Piet Muntz, he died after a short illness I gather. Piet was just one of those characters, was his own man thru and thru and totally unacustomed to rules and being told what to do, and always enjoyed a wee dram in his coffee before shooting, even in the early mornings, and was often seen on the end of a small cigar. His resolve when there was a pool shoot was something to be believed and I think he spent and enjoyed more time there than the main shoot. He would bash it to death and not give up until he shot the lot, often more than once. He was an unashamed supporter of Sporting and the bigger, longer and tougher the targets the better he enjoyed it, and he just loved the competition. His’camping’ van was often seen at a river near the shooting ground, and a fishing rod was never far away. You would never know when and where he would appear and his van, in earlier years often travelled across the straight in search of great sporting targets. His advice to younger or struggling older shooters will be surely missed, and it’s the end of one of our great Southern sporting characters.

Nicely put Ron,
A character indeed – there was only one Piet Muntz. Farewell…..
