Rotorua Clay Target Club put on some excellent targets on Sunday for their annual “Presidents Cup”. There was 2 fields of 25 tgts with a good change for the afternoon session. There was a good mix of targets from close technical presentations to the some good high belly shots. Mark Vessey successfully defended his title from last year, winning by a comfortable margin.

August 10th, 2011 - Comments(0) Sally Bidwell.

It is with deep regret that we have learnt of the sudden and unexpected death of Sally Bidwell wife of John Bidwell. John and Sally were regular visitors to New Zealand in the earlier days of Sporting Clays over here, and John did a lot to help develop our shooting.

Sally was taken ill & diagnosed with a rare illness although recovery was possible she passed away on 4th August 2011 very quickly after an intracerebral bleed.

Sally had strong family values and was as comfortable organising John and the High lodge staff as she was being a staunch supporter of the GB FITASC Sporting team.

Sally travelled widely in support of Johns endeavours at FITASC Sporting European and World Championships events; she was always ready to invite you for a cup of tea as she was to offer her support to the GB teams.

Most recently, Sally was present at the CLA Game Fair with her primary role of Grand Children ‘protector’; Sally was indeed a doting Grand Mother and loved looking after her Grandchildren.

Sally will be sorely missed throughout the shooting community; all BICTSF Directors, FITASC Sporting and Sporting Referees, wish the Bidwell family to know they are in our thoughts at this time of need.

Further details in relation to Sally’s Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly by the family and available direct from High Lodge & their website.

Waikato clay Target Club put on an excellent weekend of sporting to kick off the NZ Team qualifying after the normal game season break. The targets were set to the normal high standard that we expect from the team at Waikato and the field layout proved very challenging and enjoyable.
Brian Deadman was the standout performance over the weekend, top scoring on both days, several targets clear of the field. This is a pretty good effort in itself, however Brian was also shooting with a cast on his left arm. Brian shot 96/100 on Saturday and an impressive 95/100 on Sunday.

Sunday the 26th. June saw a bit of sporting clay history with a new club, the South Island Sporting Clay Shooters Club Inc., holding their first shoot, a 50 target re entry event. That in itself is relatively rare down here, plus the fact it’s a club without a ground and purposely so. We eventually hope to raise money through running shoots applying for funds and end up with around 30 traps and trailers/truck depending on the group wants. As well as the first shoot, we held our first meeting and elections. Neil Winsloe is President, Tim Scott Vice, and David Reid with the money, plus a motley group of us as committee!

June 27th, 2011 - Comments(0) NZ teams information

The second qualifying shoot for the year is nearly upon us, The North Island North Zone Sporting Championship at Waikato on the 30 – 31 July, followed closely by the Presidents cup in Rotorua on the 14th August. We have updated the NZ teams page with important information regarding team qualifying for the next 12mths. Here are a few points that may differ slightly from previous years.

The North Island Sporting Championship is the last Oceania qualifying round and is where the team will be announced. 17 – 18 March 2012 Wanganui/Rangitikei.

The North/South teams funding has become slightly more defined. The team that crosses cook straight for the Nationals will receive $150 travel money per team member. The last North/South qualifying round for the year is the South Island Sporting Championship in Greymouth, this will give team members time to organize their travel plans before the Nationals.

We are intending to send a full compliment of NZ teams to the 2012 World FITASC Championship in USA. you can find more details on qualifying and funding on the NZ teams page.

Please keep an eye on the qualifying results, if you are placed in the wrong category, email the SCC or let one of us know at the next shoot.

479 shooters competed in this years European FITASC championship in Soria, Spain. You can find the results here…
