Waikato clay Target Club put on an excellent weekend of sporting to kick off the NZ Team qualifying after the normal game season break. The targets were set to the normal high standard that we expect from the team at Waikato and the field layout proved very challenging and enjoyable.
Brian Deadman was the standout performance over the weekend, top scoring on both days, several targets clear of the field. This is a pretty good effort in itself, however Brian was also shooting with a cast on his left arm. Brian shot 96/100 on Saturday and an impressive 95/100 on Sunday.

Darn, I need to loose weight! Please do not publish any photos unless I look thin… or at least, have half a brain, a very questionable photo in there where I look too ‘simple’ to be allowed to hold a gun without supervision LOL!!!
Thank you for the inspiration – am putting the chocolate down and starting diet NOW!!
Funny photo’s never lie!!
Looked like a great day, I bet that smashed clay wasn’t yours Rob!!!!!
No it wasn’t me, I have to credit Geoff Wells for that broken clay… it took several attempts to get the photo, I have deleted all the images of whole targets!!
Rob
Please reinstate the photo’s of my 31 unmollested targets!!
Don’t wory Amber you looke thinner than some, but more of a problem is being beaten by a cast wearing, pie eating ginga!!!!
SORRY Brian didn’t mean it (much) bloody well shot!!
Thanks Ron, always the gentleman…. funny, I thought that too…. about Brian’s cast or course – what’s worse, second place getter had a cast on his thumb, Mr Vessey. Seems plaster of paris is the choice of champions!!
Although quietly, both those boys could shoot well trussed up in a bin liner with holes cut for eyes and one hand tied behind their back!
You havn’t caught up, Brian is often seen that way just before he robbes the dairy!!
Yes I heard about Mark I just wish I’d been there, sounds like it was a great shoot. I hope you guys are planning on coming to the Nationals and GP in February. Entries will be on line soon, we are having a cmmttee. meeting tonite and then hopfully we can get organised soon after!
Hey Ron
Airfares & Accomodation booked already, cant wait for Feb it’s going to be a great shoot.
I hope the South Island shoot at Greymouth (Nov) is a goodie, Myself, Ian Holmes, MV & Digger are all booked for that as well. Weve got a house booked at Punakaiki, jolly boys weekend it will be!! I’ve never been to the west coast, but I’m assured it’s sensational??
A
Alex, you should take a day or two to just tour the area. You can see Mt. Cook and Tasman from Greymouth, and it would be worth a day trip down to the Glaciers. Do a ‘copter trip and land on the Glaciers, well worth it. There are tons of things to do down the Coast.
We are going over Wednesday before to set up 4 ‘old style’ FITASC fields, Saturday will be set to encourage locals and the average shooter, Sunday well it will be different! I see Mark is booked in twice, he must really want to win the shoot!!
We have booked out a very good local restaurant for Saturday nite, so you might want to settle who is the ‘sober’ driver before then.
Yes Mark seemed a bit over keen!! I see quite a few Nth Islanders have entered already!
Sober driver will no doubt be ME, well be dead keen on some good west coast nosh! And some good west coast targets as well.
We’re shaking to much to hit the right key on keyboard to enter down here in the South!!!
Hi everyone, to all those who were at the sporting zone shoot last Sunday at the Waikato gun club, my shotgun was stolen from our vehicle (Gorden Macphee’s landcrusier) around prize giving time. If anyone can remember seeing anything or anyone suspicious or unusual please let me know, cheers. 0272350055
Hi Jason
Bummer about your gun. I see in your notice that you’re looking for a white transit van, that van was likely Ian Brownings Transit, all the boys from Waitemata F&G travel around in it. They’re all straight up guys, but they may have seen something. I don’t have Ian’s number at hand, but try Dale Clark, he’ll have it.
Yep thanks, I’v rung Dale and that was theirs, so all is good. The only other vehicle that I remember seeing was a white Subaru legacy station wagon, it was parked behind us for a while.
