It is with much regret I must inform Sporting Shooters of the death of Johannes (John) Martens. I’m sure all regular sporting shooters who knew John well, will with us , be thinking of his long time partner Yvonne at this time. John was one of the true characters of our sport and no longer will that cigar be seen puffing over the hill, accompanied by long time friend and partner in crime Andy Veltmeyer. John lit up most situations, taking little seriously, and his wit and charm will be surely missed by us all.
The servive for John will be at 3:30 on Friday (May 14) at the Morrison Funeral Home Henderson.
The sincerest thoughts and condolences of us all at TVDA are with John’s Family at this sad time and he will certainly be missed at our events for his love of life and his delightful wit and humour that was alway on display.
May the hills never be steep and the targets break everytime.

Yvonne, Tis with great sadness that I must convey my deepest sympathies to you. John was a great shooting companion : always a fun squad fellow. It is with these thoughts that I am most pleased that I was squadded with John for the three days of the Sporting Nationals back in February. Will be missed.
