Rotorua Clay Target Club put on some excellent targets on Sunday for their annual “Presidents Cup”. There was 2 fields of 25 tgts with a good change for the afternoon session. There was a good mix of targets from close technical presentations to the some good high belly shots. Mark Vessey successfully defended his title from last year, winning by a comfortable margin.

Thank you Rotorua, Great targets, especially field 2.
Was a bit too cold for me, dont think I’ve ever been that cold before, and I come pre insulated, but it still didn’t help.
I wont forget pad 3 on field 2 for a long time, didn’t even scratch a single target there on the 2nd round.
Shot with Mark and he shot well all day, same for Amber, sensational shooting on the last pair on field 2, center punched both targets, I bow before your magnificence young lady!
Anyways, see you again in Nov, hopefully it’ll be warmer and I wont be wearing 10 layers and look like a over inflated beach ball!! Might actually be able to move the gun a bit better.
A ’15′Curruthers!!!!!!!PLEASE TELL!
No excuses, I shot badly in the last round!
Also sorry for the poor quality images, I forgot my camera and had to use my iPhone.
As well just saw a photo of Geoffrey Wells holdig some Falcon PRICELESS!!Have sent that photo to Graeme Brown and the Target Products boys.
Looked cool don’t worry, Looks like you had a good tun out, which is great for the sport. Target Products want a good photo of Geoff Wells for their wall!!They are still laughing. Brent Quin is going to send you some photo’s of the South Island Sporting Shooters shoot yesterday for this page. It was just a days sporting, but had great weather (believe it or not) started hailing just as first beer was opened.Counting down towards Wanganui.
Thanks to everyone who put in the hard work to make this shoot the sucess it was. After some recent health problems it was great to be back pullong the trigger agin. I enjoyed the great mix of target presentations and the challenge of the weather. Fortunately I just made it back across the “Desert Road” in time before the “white out”. They closed the road behind me when I got to Waiouru.
See you in Wanganui for the Compak in 3 weeks time.
Cheers, Parky.
PS. Also looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the North Island South Zone Sporting Champs at Hutt Valley on the weekend of 11 and 12 September.
Sorry, I got the North Island South Zone Sporting dates wrong. The correct dates are 17 and 18 September. We have a 200 Skeet Weekend at Hutt Valley the weekend before on 10 and 11 September.
Cheers, Parky.
PS. If anyone has any questions about either of these events you can either email me, or call me at home at night on 04 234 7448 or use mobile 021 2111 332.
Great camera!! the ‘soft’ focus worked nicely for the photo of the ladies I thought.
Excellent targets – very pleased the weather was a day behind and we didn’t get the snow that we saw on Monday!!
I am full of fear and counting my thermals for whatever wild weather Wanganui is going to throw at us!! Brace yourself Alex – the flying ants will seem like nothing after the next wrath of nature from Wanganui!!
Amber, I have purchsed a full immersion polar survival suit – size XXXXXXL and I will be ready for anything Wanganui can throw at me!!
I’m fairly confident that no flying ants will be able to survive in Wanganui’s winter weather, but as a precaution, I have ordered an aerial spraying of the entire area in DDT!! I did ask for Agent Orange & a light napalm, but the contractor said that was a bit OTT!
Alex tell them to start laying a DDT or fire trail from the front gate!! That should cover all contingencies OK.
Ron, do you think i’m asking for too much if I requested enclosed shooting stations with diesel heaters on each field, just like the yanks do?? Come on Rob, do it for us northerners who aint used to the cold – please?????
I think Wanganui should supply thermal suites, anti malaria tablets, sea food chouder and bluff oysters!!
I’m hoping all the bad weather is happening now and by the end of the month, sun and sun burn cream!! YEAH RIGHT!!
You bring the cheque book Ron and we can provide almost anything!!
Dancing girls for Saturday night?
We just putting the finishing touches on the field designs now, we will have first class caterers providing meals, cakes and goodies and an Expresso cart onsite each morning. But don’t hold your breath on the oysters!
Aye, No oysters! That’s it, cancel everything.
Weather in Wanganui – Hmmm
1st visit = Snowstorm & Roads closed
2nd visit = Rain & Flood of biblical proportions
3rd visit = Bright sun, but Howling winds so strong that poor old Gordon McPhee looked shit sacred hopping into his little black buzz box to fly home
4th visit = Well we’ll see in three weeks time – odds on Raining Snowstorm with Howling winds!!
How much fun will the dancing girls be?? You know they all wear 6 layers of clothes – it is OSH regulations to ward against hypothermia…. it is rumored they are as pure as the driven snow they are protecting themselves against… it is just too much effort to peel them
Snow, flood, swarms… hmmmm 4th visit…. let me think…I am going for UFO’s!!
YES PLEASE… FOR THE DIESEL HEATERS… Alex for president
Glad everyone enjoyed Rotorua. The wind made the field about 5 targets harder than it should have been, so all in all we’re pretty happy. 81 was a good turn out under the circumstances.
Bring it on Wanganui. Two things I love about Compak – free gun mount, and plenty of Green Death!! See you at the Avenue Kingsgate…
Do they let anyone on this website?
I think its worth pointing out that along with your gun mount the Green Death is also optional.
Obviously Rob they do! I’d say only burglars, wantto be’s and pot hunters will shoot gun up the rest of us will perservere with our ‘art form’, the gun mount is the only thing that distinguish’s us from DTL!!! Oh, and the hard targets.
As to the Green Death, we are gong to have competition from the USA rugby team and hangers on as I gather they are all in our hotel.
Ummmm – Green Death?? Would that be Madori Liquor??
Could be!!!!
Amber, (Ron and Geoff) – Mildori (and Creme de Menthe) would be too tame and low octane for this mob. I suggest it is more likely to be the French “green fairy” Absinthe, or that other kick arse favourite Green Chartreuse that you may end up playing with. So good luck with it. I suspect you may need it – no matter which one they have in mind to play with.
Looking forward to seeing you all in Wanganui and as they say “let the games commence”.
Speaking of French Green Fairy’s ………..
Cocktail booze is for Fairy Boys & Girls
Guinness is whats required, lots of Guinness
All wrong, all very wrong. The true make up of Green Death is a closely guarded secret, known to only a few, including ‘Martin the bartender’. Keep an eye on the podium, I’m sure a Green Death bandit will be among the high achievers…
Spot on Alex, and you should have seen the’Fairy Boys & Girls’ performing on it, I would have paid money for such entertainment!!
Green death changed my life…it could change yours aswell guys, dont be shy!
Thank you Sister Mary Olsen!!!!!!
