Yesterday Brian won the Australian Grand Prix. This is an amazing effort from Brian as he had to compete against the best of the best, a former World FITASC Champion, a World runner up, plus a host of extremely experienced and shoot hardened Aussies.
Brian shot 189/200 2 targets ahead of John Younger to take the title.

Thanks to Sharee Winsloe and Bradley Lietze for taking these images of the 2012 Nationals and FITASC Grand Prix.

For all those shooters traveling to NZ for the Oceania or any people traveling with a firearm into New Zealand. Please read the following from NZ Police

“For overseas visitors who wish to clear firearms through Auckland International Airport please email, prior to embarking, matthew.stephens@police.govt.nz with your travel details, as the Police are no longer stationed at the airport.
By making this arrangement you will avoid delays clearing your shotgun, on arrival, through customs.”

Update: The email address above has been corrected.

The last qualifying event of the season, the North Island Sporting Championship was held at Wanganui/Rangitikei over the weekend. A reasonable turnout of shooters were treated to the usual high standard of targets thrown at Wanganui. The weather also behaved itself and made for a very pleasant weekend.

March 8th, 2012 - Comments(12) Team Funding

The Sporting Clay Committee met at Cromwell and amongst the many issues discussed was funding for teams. An on going major issue for us. As you are all probably aware Sporting receives only $1 from the $3 collected in daily shoot levies, and with this must fund all team travel and any other expenses incurred.
To try and make our dollar go further we decided that while in New Zealand we would only pay the Team entries for Oceania. This would free up some money for Teams travelling to the FITASC Worlds in the USA. I realise that this is a departure from the norm, but thought it was the fairest way for all and make the dollar go further.
The SCC has requested urgent discussion with Council at their first meeting to try and elicit some more funding for USA team members. We have conveyed the urgency of this and have said we would inform shooters of the results when announcing the NZ Teams at the conclusion of the Oceania. We are hoping for a positive outcome from this meeting, and realise that Council are in the middle of looking at all funding issues and we hope that we are invited to be part of this process at some date.

One of the most talked about events this year is the $1,000,000 Delta Challenge series. The series consists of five sporting clay events with purses totaling just over $1 million dollars. The series is laid out as four main events spread throughout the year with a one day ‘super final’ Challenge event on the last day of the series. The final Challenge event purse accounts for $300,000 of the $1 million total payouts and in order to be eligible to compete in the event you must shoot all four previous events in the series. more details…
